Movie Shika no Moved from September to 2022

The latest news is that the movie Shika no (The Deer King), the new anime film from Production IG, has been postponed to 2022. The film was originally set to hit Japanese theaters on September 18 this year.

There has been no official information regarding the reason why this movie was postponed. However, it seems that this delay is related to the ongoing corona pandemic.

If this film was released on September 18, surely this film would compete with the film Violet Evergarden which was also released on the same day.

Shika no is adapted from the novel by Nahoko Uehashi (Moribito) of the same name. The anime is also the directorial debut of Masashi Ando, a veteran character designer and animation director known for his work with directors such as Hayao Miyazaki, Satoshi Kon and Makoto Shinkai. Ando is directing the film alongside Masayuki Miyaji (Xam’d: Lost Memories).

Ando will also handle character design issues and an animation director. The script was written by Taku Kishimoto (Fruits Basket).

The novel series, published in 2014, centers on Van, a slave soldier who runs away and meets a mysterious girl.

The postponement of this anime also adds to the list of anime this year that was postponed due to the corona virus. Well, let’s just pray that this epidemic will pass soon and we can live normally again.
