Liverpool secure Abdul Fatawu Issahaku

Liverpool secures Abdul Fatawu Issahaku – Liverpool have beaten Sporting CP in the race to secure Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, who will be on loan at Portugal.

Liverpool Secures Abdul Fatawu Issahaku After Winning The Race

According to African football journalist Saddick Adams, Liverpool won the race to sign Abdul Fatawu Issahaku this summer.

It appears they have beaten Sporting CP in their pursuit of the young midfielder, who is currently playing for local outfit Ghana Steadfast FC.

The Reds, however, are expected to soon loan Fatawu from Anfield, to Sporting CP, despite having beaten the newly crowned Portuguese champions in a transfer duel.

They view the sticker or striker as one of the team’s mainstays for the future. According to them direct experience of European football will help the player well.

Sporting CP is not the only club targeting Fatawu

Sporting CP, however, are not the only club interested in Fatawu. That’s because the owner of the Ghana number ten is also targeted by a number of top clubs in Europe, including Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen.

That’s not surprising considering that Fatawu is a player who played a big role in his native football scene in Ghana.

After starting out with the Ghana U17 team earlier this year, the youngster quickly made his way into the senior national team during the Africa Cup qualifiers. Although not yet debuted for his country.

It was only a matter of time, as Fatawu was included in the Ghana squad that face Morocco and Ivory Coast in September.

Become the Club’s Second Sign For Next Season

While at Liverpool, the 17-year-old could be the club’s second signing for next season.

Only after the Reds announced the arrival of a highly rated defensive gem in Ibrahima Konate.

It’s no secret that Jurgen Klopp’s men are in for a busy transfer season after a disappointing title defense in the 2022/21 campaign.

They mainly target defense or defense units. But the creative department is also a problem as the team often relies too much on the play of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

There are holes to be filled in midfield as well, following the departure of Georginio Wijnaldum. Meanwhile, Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain also faces an uncertain future at the club.

Sporting Lisbon and Villarreal are now being linked with Issahaku, who rose to prominence when he was named a player of the tournament in helping Ghana to the U20 Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.

The teenager then earned his first call-up to the national team for their qualifying match at the Africa Cup of Nations in September.
