Junji Ito, Tomie Manga Gets Live Action Adaptation!

Quibi Streaming Streaming Service on Wednesday announced they will be producing a live-action series adaptation of the manga Junji Ito title Tommy. Each episode will be less than 10 minutes long.

Alexandre Aja is in charge of producing director. David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick (The Conjuring) is handling the series scripts. The two also serve as executive producers, while Hiroki Shirota is co-producer.

Tom Live Action adaptation

The platform will begin rolling out in North America on September 6, 2022. Jeffrey Katzenberg, co-founder of DreamWorks Animation, partnered with former eBay CEO Meg Whitman to launch the service.

Viz Media itself as the publisher of this manga in North America, describes the story of the manga Tomie is a classic horror series complete with a single deluxe volume available.

ComicsOne published the two-volume Tomie manga series in English in 2005, while Viz Media published the manga in omnibus volumes in 2022.
