Beat The Revenant, Kung Fu Panda 3 Tops the Box Office

DreamWorks animated film, Kung Fu Panda 3 managed to top the highest box office this week after competing with The Revenant. They have successfully earned an income of USD41 million after being released on July 29 last.

“A satisfying opening weekend,” said Chris Aronson, 20th Century Fox President of Domestic Distribution.

Kung Fu Panda is a very popular film with Po as a very beloved character. I think Dreamworks has done a great job of keeping this franchise likable.” he continued.

The film itself actually only expects a figure of $ 35 million at its opening. However, the audience’s appreciation was more than what was expected.

The previous box office top, The Revenant forced down to second place with revenues of USD 12.4 million. Down about 22.5 percent from the previous week. This is influenced by Leonardo DiCaprio who won the award SAG Awards on Saturday and 12 Oscar nominations.

Being in third place is Star Wars: The Force Awakens with an additional USD 10.8 million and increased his coffers to USD895.4 million in domestic.

New arrivals The Finest Hours sits in fourth place with revenues of around USD 10.3 million, at the same time forcing Ride Along 2 complete the top five positions with revenues of USD8.3 million.
