Warner Bros. Cancels New Gods Movie and Aquaman Spinoff

Over the last few years, DCEU has had several films and several projects in development.

One of the projects previously under development is the film New Gods, which was written by Ava DuVernay and Tom King. Later the film will focus on the characters Darkseid, Big Barda, Mister Miracle, and many more.

Meanwhile, James Wan is also developing a horror spin-off film that focuses on the Trench character. For those of you who have forgotten, Trench is one of the creatures that Arthur Curry and Mera faced in the first Aquaman film.

Despite years of development, Warner Bros. officially confirmed that the New Gods and The Trench projects were cancelled. Warner Bros. and DC also gave their official statements, which you can read below.

“As part of DC’s plans, several films in development such as New Gods and The Trench will not continue. We thank Ava DuVernay, Tom King, James Wan, and Peter Safran for their time and collaboration throughout this development process. We will continue this partnership in other DC films.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, there is still a possibility that New Gods and The Trench will be made in the future. But now DC Films already has a hectic schedule for the next few years with films The Batman, Black Adam, Shazam: Fury of the Gods, The Flash, Zatanna and Aquaman 2.
