One of the reasons why people buy PS3 is the game The Last of Us. Because this game is one of the best-selling sales, finally Naughty Dog as a developer and also Sony Computer Entertainment as a publisher re-released it again in a remastered version on July 4, 2014.
This survival horror game was first released for PS3 in June 2013. In this game you will play a smuggler named Joel who is assigned to accompany a teenage girl named Ellie in navigating a post-apocalyptic world in the United States. In this game you will be faced with humans and cannibals who are attacked by the mutated Cordysep fungus.
Naughty Dog as the developer was very successful in executing this one game. Naturally, The Last of Us entered the best game in the year it was released. The PS3 era could be Naughty Dog’s best years.
In addition to releasing this game, the developer who once made the Crash Bandicoot game also released his masterpiece series, Uncharted, which was equally successful. On this occasion, Buddygame will discuss the review of The Last of Us. For those of you who haven’t played this game yet, and are curious, follow this article to the end.
Plot of the Last of Us: Joel and Ellie’s Adventures in a Post-Apocalyptic World
The story of this survival horror game begins in September 2013 where all cities in the United States are infected by a fungus called Cordyceps which makes humans become aggressive creatures when infected. After 20 years later where almost all of the population was infected, the survivors live in quarantined areas, and live a nomadic life. Joel flees the chaos with his younger brother Tommy and daughter Sarah. Sarah is shot by a soldier and dies in front of Joel.
After the incident, Joel works as a smuggler with his partner Tess. Joel and Tess hunt down Robert who is a black market dealer to return the weapons stolen by him. Robert reveals that the item they are looking for is in the hands of a rebel group called the Fireflies.
However, when he meets the leader of the Fireflies, Marlene, Joel is promised an additional cache if he smuggles in a teenage girl named Ellie. During their journey they discover that Ellie has been infected by the fungus. However, Ellie admitted that she had been infected three weeks earlier when in general the infection lasted only 2 days.
Vivid Gameplay and Graphics Mechanisms
That’s the story of the survival game made by Naughty Dog. This game takes a third person perspective. When playing this game you will be surrounded by a post-apocalyptic environment where cities, buildings, and sewers appear to be destroyed. In this game you will control Joel completely, and Ellie will be controlled by AI. However, you can control Ellie during the winter segment.
In eradicating all cannibals and humans infected by the fungus, you will be equipped with long-barreled weapons such as rifles, shotguns, and arrows. In addition, you can also use weapons such as pistols and short shotguns. Not only using rifles and shots, you can also use melee weapons such as pipes, baseball bats, and can also throw bottles or bricks. This is what makes the environment in this game seem more realistic.
For business graphics, we give thumbs up for Naughty Dogs. They managed to maximize the potential that exists on the PS3. With the hardware that Sony provided for the PS3, Naughty Dogs is very successful at displaying the best detailed graphics in a lively environment. Combined with cool voice acting filled by seasoned voice actors, this game seems even more perfect.
A year after it was released on PS3, it seems that Naughty Dogs wants to try to maximize this game, which can actually be more graphically based on the limited capabilities of the PS3. Now when the PS4 was released, The Last of Us was able to produce the best results. With Full HD resolution and a frame rate of 60fps, it makes the visuals even more slick.
Conclusion: Try Playing the Remastered Version on PS4
One of the best survival horror games where there are many horror games who just wanted to sell their survival horror titles, including several Resident Evil series that came out that year, the results were less than satisfactory. For us, this game is worth playing, if you’ve never played The Last of Us, try the PS4 version, it’s guaranteed to be much cooler.
