Move Avengers: Endgame, Avatar Returns to be the No. 1 Box Office Movie

Avengers: Endgame no longer holds the 1st position as the highest-grossing film of all time as Avatar successfully reclaimed its throne after its re-release in China.

James Cameron’s Avatar, which was released in 2009 has become a global phenomenon. People all over the world flocked to theaters to see the film and Avatar grossed $2.789 billion. The record also surpassed the earnings of Titanic, which was also directed by James Cameron.

Over time and with the number of blockbuster films and franchises. Many have been waiting to see if there is a film that can finally beat Avatar.

After surviving almost a decade, Avengers: Endgame finally succeeded in shifting the Avatar film at the box office. Marvel Studios’ 22nd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a landmark event and serves as the conclusion to an 11-year saga.

Avengers: Endgame grossed a total of $2.797 billion, only a few million dollars from Avatar.

Many have predicted that Avatar will reclaim the first position at the box office and overtake Avengers: Endgame. Especially ahead of the release of its four sequels which have been scheduled until 2028.

After its re-release in China, the film Avatar directed by James Cameron successfully reclaimed its throne as the highest-grossing box office film of all time. Avatar managed to beat Avengers Endgame who previously occupied that position.

The Chinese re-release of Avatar has grossed around $8.9 million. This brings Avatar’s total gross at the world box office to $2,798,579,794. Meanwhile the film Avengers: Endgame directed by Joe and Anthony Russo is only slightly apart, namely $ 2,797,501,328.

Avatar Sequel Is In Production

Several Avatar sequels are currently in production. Actors Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington are confirmed to return to reprise their roles in the sequels Avatar 2 and Avatar 3.

Although film production was affected by the coronavirus pandemic, Avatar 2 finished production in September 2022. There is very little news about Avatar 3 at this time. However, recent reports say that the film is moving forward slowly and is expected to finish shooting soon.
