FF7 Remake Director Wants To Apply Guerilla Games Horizon Series Elements For Next Remake

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is known as a remake of the great Final Fantasy series. This game managed to bring back the original version which was released in 1997 with fantastic graphics.

Well, the plan for part 2 of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, the director of the game, Naoki Hamaguchi wants to take some of the elements in the Horizon Guerilla Games series.

Naoki Hamaguchi is one of the three directors who directed Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Remake project. This he just revealed with Sony’s highest board in a closed meeting. However, exactly what elements did Hamaguchi want to apply to this second part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake?

Based on a recent post from the PlayStation Blog, Hamaguchi expressed his love for the Horizon Guerilla Games series and how it inspired his work in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. According to him, Horizon: Zero Down left a lasting impression with its excellent graphics and unique view of the post-apocalyptic world.

Because of that, he was looking forward to the new Horizon: Forbidden West series and wanted to develop the second part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake from the game’s elements. Hamaguchi did not specify which elements of the Forbidden West he would like to apply to his game. But perhaps Hamaguci is interested in the non-linear story.

In an interview with Game Informer last year, Hamaguchi said that Final Fantasy 7 Original didn’t use an open world until Midgar’s first visit. Therefore, Final Fantasy 7 Remake part 1, only includes the story regarding the first Midgar visit. In addition, FF7 Remake part 1 also sticks to a linear story with a few exceptions.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 Could Be an Open World Concept

If a non-linear story is of interest to Hamaguchi, then players will likely see more open world elements from FF7 Remake Part 2 than in Part 1. Currently, Hamaguchi has plenty of time to develop the game. By incorporating open world elements as in the Horizon Guerilla Games series.

It would be very interesting if this could be realized, until now there is no further information regarding the development of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2.
